Imation Corp., a global data storage and information security company, today announced the addition of the IronKey S1000 USB 3.0 Flash Drive to its IronKey product line. The S1000 builds upon IronKey’s history of providing the world’s most secure USB storage devices, offering customers a choice between IronKey’s industry-leading USB 2.0 devices as well as the high-performance USB 3.0 solutions. The S1000 protects files with Federal Information Processing Standards (FIPS) 140-2 Level 31 and National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST)-approved XTS-AES 256-bit encryption, ensuring compliance with the most stringent government and industry regulations while allowing workers to remain mobile.
IronKey offers double the performance of competing hardware-encrypted USB 3.0 SuperSpeed flash drives and has increased the capacity of its secure storage flash drives to 128GB, enabling users to store and retrieve the most data-intensive files quickly and easily, thus increasing user productivity. The S1000 is backed by an industry-leading lifetime warranty and is available in two versions for maximum flexibility: IronKey Basic S1000 and the centrally managed IronKey Enterprise S1000.
“The increasing need for employees to work remotely has created problems for IT,” said Ken Jones, vice president of engineering and product management at IronKey. “Employees want, and need, access to their data regardless of location. The challenge, especially for highly regulated industries such as healthcare, is how to keep that data safe when according to research the majority of data breaches result from physical loss or theft of devices. IronKey’s highly secure, managed USB drives provide the mobility features – including performance, durability, and capacity – needed to enable a productive mobile workforce while ensuring the security of the organization’s data.”
The S1000 is twice as fast as the competition, with read speeds up to 400 MB/second and write speeds up to 300 MB/second. It combines the high performance of USB 3.0 technology with a military-grade, ruggedized, portable design that resists physical tampering and will self-destruct if unauthorized attempts to physically obtain access to the data are made. In addition, the S1000 protects against attacks such as BadUSB to which other USB vendors are vulnerable. In an industry first, based on IronKey’s heritage of quality and durability, the company is offering a lifetime warranty for its S1000 family.
Both the Enterprise and Basic versions of the S1000 provide the level of security on which IronKey has built its reputation. The Enterprise S1000 adds management capabilities enabling customers to centrally administer access and usage policies across thousands of drives with the cloud-based IronKey Enterprise Management Service, the same platform used to manage other IronKey devices. This intuitive, secure online interface makes it easy to enforce device-specific policies, allow users to securely recover lost passwords, take control over where devices can be used and even remotely disable or destroy lost or stolen drives. Customers who purchase IronKey Basic S1000 drives can upgrade their devices to the Enterprise version at any time with the addition of the management platform.
Availability and Pricing
The IronKey Enterprise and Basic S1000 are immediately available through Imation Mobile Security channel partners; pricing begins at $139 for 4GB. IronKey Basic S1000 is also available through the company’s eStore. On-premises management of the Enterprise S1000 with the IronKey Enterprise Management Server will be available in early Q2 2015.
