QNAP Systems, Inc. today announced the release of enterprise-class TS-ECx80 Pro series Turbo NAS and a flexible, high-density SAS/SATA/SSD RAID expansion enclosure REXP-1000 Pro. Available in 8 and 10-bay tower models, the TS-ECx80 Pro series is powered by a Quad-Core Intel Xeon 3.4GHz processor and 2GB DDR3 ECC RAM and delivers high-performance and extreme scalability to fulfill the mission-critical storage needs of entry-level enterprises.

The powerful TS-ECx80 Pro series is 10GbE ready, supports SSD caching options (including up to two internal mSATA slots), and is capable of providing up to 2,200 MB/s throughput and 226,000 IOPS to boost the workflow of IOPS-demanding applications such as virtualization and data center deployment. The new series features stability with persistent throughput to balance resource-demanding applications. “With the support of high-capacity, low-cost SATA hard drives for large data archiving and high-speed, high-stability SSDs for I/O-intensive operations, the TS-ECx80 Pro series provides a wide range of options to assist businesses to deploy a tiered storage plan to meet their storage requirements,” said David Tsao, product manager of QNAP.

The TS-ECx80 Pro series’ high-scalability design allows administrators to expand their total storage to up to 250TB raw capacity (varies by model) on demand by connecting up to two QNAP REXP-1000 Pro RAID expansion enclosures. “The REXP-1000 Pro expansion enclosure is an excellent choice to flexibly and affordably scale up the capacity of the TS-ECx80 Pro series, fitting storage-intensive applications such as video surveillance, data archiving, TV broadcast storage, and for backing-up the entire content of the connected Turbo NAS,” added Tsao.

With the new IT Management Station (powered by Mandriva® Pulse) the TS-ECx80 Pro series provides an IT system management solution to simplify daily tasks and IT asset management for businesses of all sizes. With the IT Management Station, businesses can centralize their management of multi-OS and multi-site IT assets with numerous business applications including comprehensive inventory, centralized software deployment & updates, imaging, remote management and support, backup & restore, and more.

The new TS-ECx80 Pro series is a reliable storage solution for server virtualization with the support of VMware® vSphere™ 5.5 and Citrix® XenServer™, and the compatibility with Microsoft® Hyper-V™ and Windows Server 2012. In addition, the support of VMware VAAI, QNAP vSphere Client plug-in, Microsoft ODX, and QNAP SMI-S provider further improves operational efficiency in virtualization applications.

The new series offers flexible backup and recovery solutions. Windows and Mac users can use the QNAP NetBak Replicator utility and Apple Time Machine respectively to easily back up data. Disaster recovery solutions include Real-time Remote Replication (RTRR) for real-time or scheduled data replication and backup to cloud storage including Amazon® S3, Amazon Glacier, Microsoft® Azure, ElephantDrive®, Symform® and Google® Drive.
