“With integration of Synology DiskStation Manager’s full range of features, the DS414slim provides users with the utmost fun and security while occupying the minimal space,” said Nicole Lin, a product manager at Synology Inc.

Powered by the built-in Floating-Point Unit (FPU) CPU and 512 MB of RAM, the DS414slim guarantees the optimum experience of intensive applications. In a Windows® environment, the DS414slim delivers average read and write speeds of 110.91 MB/s and 54.53 MB/s respectively. Additionally, the DS414slim is equipped with two USB 3.0 ports to boost the data exchange efficiency with external storage. To ensure high availability of data, the DS414slim features snap-in hot-swappable drives and dual Gigabit LAN ports with failover support.

Designed as a cool, quiet and energy-efficient NAS server, the DS414slim adopts 2.5” HDD/SSD and operates an easy-to-replace 60 mm fan with smart airflow design to keep the system running cool 24/7. The DS414slim consumes merely 15.48 watts under accessing mode. Moreover, the power consumption can be further minimized by the support of Wake on LAN/WAN and Scheduled Power on/off features.

The DS414slim runs on DiskStation Manager (DSM) 5.0, an intuitive operating system that provides a host of applications to bring better productivity at work. Synology was voted as “PCMag Business Choice Award 2013 winner” and received the highest rating in every element of the survey, including reliability, overall satisfaction, value, and likelihood to recommend.
