Verbatim Introduces 500GB eSATA/USB 2.0 Combo Portable Hard Drive

One device, two integrated interfaces: with the new Combo Portable Hard Drive, Verbatim is combining the advantages of a Power eSATA high-speed connection with the user-friendliness of a USB drive. The powerful Portable Hard Drive comes in a rugged aluminium enclosure weighing only 205 grams and delivering ultra fast eSATA data transfer speeds up to 3Gbit/sec. The new Verbatim eSATA/USB 2.0 Combo HDD 500GB is available from specialist retailers now.

Verbatim's new portable hard drive delivers ultra fast data transfer on the go. With USB 2.0 and powered eSATA connectivity it is extremely versatile.  Data can be transferred via the powered eSATA port at a maximum speed of 3Gbit/sec, providing the other device also features eSATA connectivity. In terms of data transfer, the powered eSATA port is six times faster than USB 2.0.

Buffalo Announces New 12x Blu-ray Disc Writer

Buffalo Japan sent out a press release this morning, announcing its new 12x Blu-ray Disc writer, the BR-H1216FBS-BK. Based on LG's yet to be named (BH12?) 12x Blu-ray Disc writer, the BR-H1216FBS-BK is capable of 12x BD-R, 12x BD-R DL, 6x BD-R LTH, 2x BD-RE and 2x BD-RE DL writing speeds and a maximum BD-ROM read speed of 10x. The drive is also backwards compatible with all major CD and DVD formats and comes bundled with CyberLink's Blu-ray Disc Suite.  The BR-H1216FBS-BK is expected to ship in the middle of March for a suggested retail price of 28,500 Yen ($317US).
