For the last year or so, Blu-ray Disc and HD DVD have been battling it out to become the dominant high-definition format. Both sides have claimed their share of victories. However, there hasn't been a clear winner yet. While this hasn't stopped early adopters from going high-def, most consumers have held back in fear that they would choose the wrong format and end up with the next Betamax.

Despite being an early endorser of Blu-ray, LG has made it easier for consumers to go high-def by developing products that support both formats. At this year's Consumer Electronics Show, the company unveiled their first dual-format "Super Multi Blue" drive, the GGW-H10N. This all in one solution combines a Blu-ray Disc writer and HD DVD-ROM drive into a single unit. The drive not only gives users the ability to enjoy movies in both formats, it lets them store up to 50GB of data or four hours worth of HD video onto a single Blu-ray disc. The GGW-H10N also takes Blu-ray recording to the next level with a maximum BD-R writing speed of 4x.

With features and specs like this, it's hard not to be impressed by LG's new "Super Multi Blue" drive. However, as you all know by now, we're not ones to take things at face value. In this review, we'll take an in-depth look at the GGW-H10N's features and then see how it compares to the Blu-ray Disc writers from Sony, I-O DATA and Pioneer. Is support for both Blu-ray and HD DVD enough to put the GGW-H10N on top? More importantly, is it the drive for you? Keep reading as we find out.
