DDW 082 firmware question...PLEASE HELP?

Hi guys I posted this a while back but to my surprise nobody answered?

I own a ddw-081, that I have successfully upgraded with each frimware upgrade as they were made available. My machine has been a DDW 082 for over a year. DVD ripping speed

My new NEC 3520 only gets around 4 X when ripping a dvd to the hard drive and I was wondering if this is a normal. Would a regular 16X DVD ROM rip DVDs any faster? I'm using Smartripper to rip the dvds. Thanks.

32k gaps between IFOs and BUPs and ECC

I apologize in advance if this is old news, but I recently came across this article. Supposedly, following the ISO burning procedure outlined below will make a DVD less susceptible to errors from scratches or defects. Does anyone currently use this method? I'm curious if the 32k gaps are part of a dvd "spec"?

Asus DVD-RW drives

Does anybody know who manufactures the optical drives for Asus. I am thinking of buying the Asus DRW-1608P DVD-Burner, so would like to hear your feedback on this drive. Also I beleive this drive also supports DVD-RAM. I've heard rumours that Asus optical drives are manufactured by Pionner, but how can this be true when Pioneer dont even manufactur their own drive.

Do they mean it can r & w 5x on a 3x media? And what's Ver. 2.2?
And where can I find it? \:D/

Also, I never used cartridge ...
