News of DVD Writers

Being a scientific person as I am, I would like to propose a study for all the BENQ 1620 worldwide and would like your feedback to improve the quality of this study.

Purpose: To progressively watch the deteriation of various media over time that we use for our BENQ 1620.

Background: This study could be open to ALL DVD burner makes/models however we need to eliminate some variables and the BENQ 1620 may write DVD's ...

I have noticed and read a few things and wanted to hear other peoples thoughts as well. Some DVD media will change colors when the media is burned when looking at the bottom of the disc. However, an actual store bought DVD will remain silver usually and you cannot tell from looking at the bottom where it was burned.

Question: How does the quality of media compare in these to cases? Is it better to ...

Newegg has THIS burner on sale, and it says it has Quiet drive. Is this a rebadged DVR108? The bezel isn't even close.

I've been using dvd decrypter for awhile now and never had this problem,but since yesterday when burning dvd's the "Buffer" on the left colum keeps dropping to 0% then goes back to 100% randomly throughout a burn,wich causes the Write rate to drop as well, the "Device Buffer" stays around 97 - 100% ,I made sure none of my drives are in PIO mode, could it be a bad batch of media im using? Have just installed two CD/DVD Writers into same desktop PC.

Have Panasonic DVD Recorder connected to TV with DVD RAM format

DVD Writers:

1. LG 4163B
2. Pioneer DVR 108

Both Read /Write CD and Read Commerial DVD's. The LG 4163B will play DVD RAM disc but same disc will not play on Pioneer DVR 108 ( using Win DVD software ) although spec says it will play DVD RAM
