They didn't have one. Thinking of refusing delivery, I mean, this is nuts.

Stunning. I would have to agree in this case FedEx has done a poor job. Maybe it's just the people employed in your area/region. Consider moving! :P

Let's see here:

1. The package originated in IL, continued to KS, and then made it's way to TN before they supposedly put it on a truck back to MN, which they did only after I called.

2. My call came from Memphis, TN (FedEx World HQ)

3. So if by area/region, you mean this country, then I would have to agree!

I agree with the others, somebody at FedEx is purposely trying to piss aviationwiz off...or he has extremely bad luck.

I never had a problem with any of the major curriers, including FedEx. I even greet the delivery drivers with a smile and part with a sincere "thank you." What goes around comes around. :)

I guess I should point out that while I've had good service from FedEx delivering to my home address, I almost always have it delivered to my office instead. Someone is always there between 8 and 5PM, and the FedEx guy comes by almost every day for either a drop off or a pick up. Being on his regular route, that could be why I've never had problems with any of my packages.

OK, they just stopped by at 3:30PM, I just refused the delivery, as I plain don't want it anymore after this wait. Tracking information is out-dated, as it still shows it in Nashville, TN.

Well, whatever it was and whatever it cost, you most likely are stuck.
The seller will maintain that it is not his problem and has already billed the credit card company if that is how you bought it. The seller does not guarantee FedEx delivery. The transportation mode was your choice.

So recovering your money is between you and FedEx. If the terms were not the "guaranteed" type, like the overnight - one day service, then FedEx will not assume that it owes you anything for a one or two day late delivery. Even if you take FedEx to court and are successful, the most that you could recover from them would be the shipping fee; they are not liable for the cost of the product which was in the box.

So, my advice would be to rethink your rapid, rash rush to judgement and consider accepting the product whenever FedEx can get it back to you. I'd probably call them right away, apologize as contritely and humbly as possible and hope that they haven't sent it to their unclaimed package repository in Bangalore.

If you are lucky enough to have them re-deliver it you, greet the driver warmly and be as nice to him as you possibly can. After all, he is a union brother.

If you have to sue, be real nice to Ian and ask him to trash this thread. You won't evoke much sympathy from the court if they see this and that you have once again chosen FedEx after all your other bad experiences.

See you at Monte's! You won't be able to pick me up - 747s aren't allowed in and out of SNA.

Transportationally yours,
Slim

Well, one must give credit where credit is due. FedEx succesfully delivered a package today, on time, and in good condition.

Can't figure this one out, UPS package didn't show up today, called em' up, my local hub was closed, so they are going to call me tomorrow by 10AM, but now I check the package status and it has a Fargo, ND Departure scan...in an hour and a half! Talk about a fu*k up.

Ranked from Lowest percentage to Highest percentage of fu*k ups.

1. UPS
2. DHL
3. FedEx

Hey, Wiz, what was the outcome of this. Did you get out of this or did you have to pay?

Buy.com was slow (as always) in issuing me a refund, took me 3 emails, and about 2 weeks, but I got a full refund. :)

Good luck! Buy.com is OK then, a lot of resellers would have stiffed you - like tufshop.com.

Just a follow-up to the Brown fu*k up, they got me the package yesterday, 2 days late, still trying to figure out how they made a mistake between the bin that says "Route X" and the bin that says "Fargo, ND"

The driver was nice enough to bring it by before normal though.

On a side note, I got something FedEx Ground today (actually on time and not beaten up, LOL) so my Mom calls me (whos at work) and asks if they delivered something to me today, so I said yes, because the neighbor called, and asked if they delivered thier package to my house by mistake, because they were expecting something from them today. I then had to explain that there are 3 types of FedEx trucks operating in our area, Express, Ground, and Home Delivery.

I'm back!!

2 things.

1. Big Brown Fu*ked up: As of now, package is scheduled for a 2 day late delivery (Ground) needless to say, I'm expecting a refund on the package as it sure as hell wasn't weather or some other crap that delayed it. It was sitting in my hub too long, and then it went to Louisville and then Hodgkins instead of straight to Hodgkins.

2. WTF is with this FedEx Ground Tracking. Ground package, scheduled for delivery Monday, now says:

Code: Select all
Sep 18, 2004   5:31 AM

On FedEx vehicle for delivery

SAINT PAUL, MN

A little early, eh? Note the 18th is a Saturday.

I've seen this before, it's pretty standard. Since FedEx (and UPS, for that matter), doesn't offer Sunday delivery, it is not uncommon to see packages put on the delivery truck the Saturday in advance for Monday delivery.

Just an update on the late UPS package, got a refund from Big Brown today, they didn't even ask any questions, just told them it was delivered late, gave them the tracking number, a minute or so later, they said "OK, Sir, your refund will be on your next billing statement."

Now that's customer service. :)

Wiz,

Defer all your purchases for two months. Then you can have them come from the hub in Fargo by dogsled!
