I have a CD-RW SAMSUNG SW-252 firm:r701 with 8mb of buffer. i search in google and i confused, becoause exist a lot of .rom to upgrade my CD-RW, there is 701,702,703...... (and a lot more). But i Don´t know who firm is the best or the last for mi Cd-RW. In Samsungs paged said the version R703 is only ...

I am curently running RPC1_104.EXE on this drive downloaded from:

It is RPC-1, but does not have the pilock removed. Is there a firmware for this drive that removes the riplock?

I am searching for the best method to store DVD's to preserve longevity?

I have seen some actual standard DVD holders that will touch the bottom surface of a DVD. You can tell by slightly pressing the edge of the DVD while in the DVD case and see that there is no give.

I use black, slim jewel cases that have a small outer ring that rests against the hub to keep that surface off ...

If there is a unofficial FW that is better then a official please specify which one then.

Being a scientific person as I am, I would like to propose a study for all the BENQ 1620 worldwide and would like your feedback to improve the quality of this study.

Purpose: To progressively watch the deteriation of various media over time that we use for our BENQ 1620.

Background: This study could be open to ALL DVD burner makes/models however we need to eliminate some variables and the BENQ 1620 may write DVD's ...

I have noticed and read a few things and wanted to hear other peoples thoughts as well. Some DVD media will change colors when the media is burned when looking at the bottom of the disc. However, an actual store bought DVD will remain silver usually and you cannot tell from looking at the bottom where it was burned.

Question: How does the quality of media compare in these to cases? Is it better to ...

recently I had the need do burn a 400MB ZIP archive on CD. Nero 5.5 did burn it obviously without problems, but when I tried to unzip the file, it stopped after a while with "bad CRC". Tge zip file itself could be copied to harddisk without errors, just the content is bad.

I rechecked my original ZIP - still fine. Burned another CD "successfully" -> same problem.
Installed 6.0 update, burn "successfully" -> bad ...
