Synology Inc. today launched the new DX213, Synology’s first 2-bay DiskStation expansion solution that satisfies the growth of storage demand from business and power users.
“Managing and handling the increasing amount of data should not take time away from running a business. Therefore, Synology designed the DX213 to help users quickly and effortlessly expand DiskStation storage by an additional two bays when it reaches its maximum capacity,” said Chad Jiang, product manager at Synology Inc.
On selected DiskStation models, RAID volumes can be expanded directly across DX213 without the hassle of reformatting existing hard drives, bringing the additional benefit of continuous service uptime throughout this process. Users also have the freedom to create DX213 as an independent volume for the paired DiskStation. As such, DX213 can function as an effortless local backup solution.

Synology Inc. today launched DiskStation DS2413+, a 12-bay NAS server delivering high scalability in capacity and performance to SMB users. When the DS2413+ capacity falls short of demand, users can pair it with one Synology DX1211 expansion unit to grow its storage.
“For users requiring maximum system uptime to run business-critical applications, the DS2413+ provides an exceptionally high level of data protection and performance,” Chad Chiang, product manager of Synology Inc. The DS2413+ is guarded with a complete set of reliable mechanisms including passive CPU cooling technology, system fan redundancy, hot-swappable drives, and dual LAN failover support, which help eliminate single points of failure and ensure continuous system uptime during malfunction.
Powered by a 2.13 GHz dual core processor and 2 GB RAM upgradable to 4GB, Synology DS2413+ delivers reading and writing speeds at 201.03 MB/sec and 196.87 MB/sec respectively under RAID 5 configuration with Link Aggregation enabled in a Windows® environment. Another enhancement to the DS2413+ is the USB 3.0 interface offering file transfers up to 10 times the speeds of USB 2.0 connection.

Synology Inc. today introduced DiskStation DS213air, a 2-bay NAS server with built-in Wi-Fi support for home and small office users.
“Synology boasts cutting-edge technologies that deliver seamless integration, of which the DS213air is a great example,” said Rosiel Lee, product manager of Synology Inc. “By incorporating Wi-Fi technology into a feature-rich DiskStation, the DS213air has changed the way people think about NAS servers,” added Lee.
With a built-in Wi-Fi adapter, the DS213air provides a wide range of wireless configurations that fit perfectly into different user scenarios. It can be connected wirelessly to network without cumbersome cabling, or be configured as a hotspot to extend the range of an existing Wi-Fi network. Users can even deploy the DS213air as a wireless router to create a wireless environment at no extra cost.
